Wendell Pereira
Research Assistant Professor
Wendell Pereira joined the School of Forest, Fisheries, and Geomatics Sciences in 2024 as a Research Assistant Professor. He develops his research as part of the Forest Genomics Laboratory, where he applies his expertise in biotechnology and bioinformatics to plant science.
Dr. Pereira's research integrates cutting-edge genomics, transcriptomics, and proteomics with robust computational methods to investigate complex plant traits relevant to agricultural and ecological improvement. His research is concentrated in three primary areas:
- Applied Genomic Research: Investigating the genetic and cellular mechanisms that regulate plant developmental processes and symbiotic interactions, aiming to engineer improved organisms.
- Tool Development: Developing and implementing novel computational pipelines and accessible software tools to facilitate the analysis, interpretation, and visualization of complex biological data.
