Eric Jokela joined the School in 1984 with teaching and research responsibilities in silviculture. From 1985-1993, he served as Coordinator for the Cooperative Research in Forest Fertilization Program, a university-industry research program focusing on forest nutrition and fertilization. He now serves as Co-Director of the Forest Biology Research Cooperative (1995 to present), which involves an interdisciplinary team of scientists seeking to understand the biological mechanisms controlling productivity, health and sustainability of managed forest ecosystems. Professor Jokela has served as Associate Editor/Editorial Advisory Board Member for Forest Science, Tree Physiology, and J. Forest Science. He currently serves as Editor-in-Chief for Forests. His professional international experiences include research projects, teaching and consultancies in New Zealand, Australia, Argentina, Chile, Canada, Czech Republic, and Germany. Current research efforts focus on tree nutrition, production ecology of intensively managed pine ecosystems, and forest management impacts on soil carbon dynamics.
