Marconi, Sergio

My scientific interest focuses on understanding the relationship between different plant attributes and taxa biogeography, and how these relationships cascade on ecosystem function and biogeochemistry. To do so, I use computer vision, deterministic and multilevel statistical modeling techniques, to integrate ecological information from remote-sensing and field surveys across multiple scales. My current research focuses on (1) deriving big datasets of species, leaf and structural traits for individual trees at large scale, (2) address the effect of the environment on functional and species diversity across scales, (3) better understand the link between forest function and community assembly, and how such link impacts forests carbon cycle.
