My research explores the reproductive and growth characteristics of ornamental fish. In association with the Florida Tropical Fish Farms Association (FTFFA), I focused on the family Loricariidae from South America, specifically three species common within the ornamental trade for peoples’ home aquaria. I researched spawning methods and habits and investigated growth and survival of offspring under different culture conditions. The end goal is to help the FTFFA expand their list of species that they produce and reduce collection pressure on wild populations of these fishes.
