Operations Coordinator II

Reporting to the CBI Executive Director, Assistant Director, and the Head Operations Coordinator, the Operations Coordinator II will act as one of PCCC’s representatives to patrons and the community. This individual will be responsible for supporting PCCC’s ability to maintain availability to our patrons. This includes but is not limited to answering phone calls, assisting in the office, giving tours, and working burials. This individual will also be responsible for the plants under CBI’s care as part of the Native Plant Restoration Program, as well as maintenance of CBI equipment. She, he or they should strive to maintain flexibility to accommodate the varying nature of PCCC’s services. This individual will initially develop deep knowledge of the mission, policies, and standard operating procedures for PCCC.
Responsibilities:
● Daily Operations
o Maintain availability as an alternative contact during business hours and primary contact outside of business hours for PCCC phone line (cemetery cell phone)
o Schedule and give tours during and outside of regular business hours to educate potential clients on conservation burial and choices available at PCCC
o Meet with clients to coordinate and plan burials
o Lead/support burial ceremonies during and outside of regular business hours
o Lead/support grave digging during and outside of regular business hours
o Attend CBI Board of Directors Committee Meetings as appropriate to inform the board about daily operations and maintain a clear understanding of the Board’s vision for PCCC
o Any other duties as assigned by PCCC Executive Director and Assistant Director
o Build a relationship with and coordinate with community volunteers for digs, burials, and other volunteer events
● Cemetery Management
o Consistently water and track all native plants planted in the cemetery on an appropriate schedule to maximize long-term plant success
o Maintain all cemetery vehicles and tools, and document all actions taken
o Remove and/or treat any exotic species found on cemetery land, documenting all herbicide use per PCCC policy
o Work with PCCC staff, board, partner ACT and volunteers to develop and implement a long term restoration plan for the cemetery
Skills and Qualifications:
Candidates for the position of operations coordinator should have all of the following:
● Work easily and comfortably with people of all beliefs and backgrounds
● Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Google products, and social media platforms
● Be able to perform strenuous physical activity outside for extended periods of time
● Be comfortable working in the death services arena while extending compassion and empathy to the friends and families that we encounter
● Interest in professional development within the growing conservation burial movement
Preferred:
● Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to identify southeastern flora and fauna as well as exotic/invasive plant species common to North Florida
● Experience in the use of off-road vehicles and equipment, including heavy equipment (tractors, tractor attachments, trailers, ATVs, UTVs), and small equipment such as mowers and chainsaws
● Experience in maintenance of chainsaws, golf carts, and vehicles
Employment Benefits
● This is a full-time hourly position starting at $15/hr with overtime
● Two weeks (80 hours) paid time off available after 6 months of employment
